I ordered two of these plans and they are very detailed and informative. There are two things I’ve had minor problems with. In a few instances there is so much point on the picture that it is a small confusing and hard to determine just what is required for each step. The other problem is small to no explanation of some of the features. I like to know the purpose of each figure to help me know the treatment and any possibility for personal changes and what they might interfere with. It took a honest amount of time to decipher some of the details on these plans. Overall the plans are quite useful and adequately detailed.

I built this as a changing table to contest the changeable crib plans in print by the same people. It went together honestly austerely off and on over about a month’s worth of weekends. I made several notable changes and my wife is very pleased with the way it turned out. First, I added 3″ to the bottom drawer height. This brings the table top up to a more comfortable height, as changing babies on lower table heights hurts my back. It also adds a excellent bit of storage. Second, I straightened the cap strip to contest what I did with the crib. I like the way it looks better and it simplifies construction. Finally I changed the joinery on the drawers. The plot calls for rabbet-joints, but I didn’t like that small of a glued surface area for a part that will be stressed daily so I changed it to simple finger joints. Overall I found the plans simple to stay on and overall project medium difficulty.

I struggled a bit with the way the plans were place together. I have done my own designs for many years, often make use of materials I have and modify dimensions accordingly. I did the same with these plans and found myself having to redo calculations to make sure things still fit. I had Quilted maple and birdseye maple for all the solid pieces and it turned out fantastic. The toughest part was getting the 3/8″ cove to bend into the crest. I had to smooth the back off to make it thin enough to do the compound bend. I finished up making the matching 3 in 1 crib/bed. All for my first grandchild, which is due in June. She is spoiled already :-)
